Zipeg is a handy and very easy-to-use Mac application specially designed to help you preview and extract files from inside different types of archives.

Browse the contents of your archives and extract the needed items

From Zipeg’s main window you can quickly and easily open and unpack multi-part password protected archives and set the output destination folder. The top toolbar helps open the desired archive, extract the selected items, open them in Preview and open the Preferences window slide sheet.

The left panel enables you to browse the directory tree and go through the folders available in the opened archive. At the same time, you can view the contents of each folder in the right panel, check their size and creation date. The list can be easily sorted by name, size, creation time or comment with just a few mouse clicks.

The options provided by the top toolbar are also available in the context menu, as well as the Actions menu. On top of that, the Go menu helps you open the enclosing folder and go back with a few keystrokes.

By accessing the Preferences slide sheet, you can configure Zipeg to extract the selection, the whole archive or ask each time you wish to extract something. You can also enable Zipeg to automatically send the overwritten file to Trash and play a notification sound when a task is complete.

Furthermore, you can assign multiple archive types to be automatically opened with Zipeg when double-clicked. On top of that, you can set a default extraction location and let Zipeg to automatically detect the filename encoding.
